Big News!

Mi’kmaw Ethics Watch (MEW) has officially moved to the Union of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq (UNSM)! As we celebrate 25 years of protecting Mi’kmaw knowledge and research, this transition marks a historic return of MEW to the Mi’kmaq people.

A huge thank you to Cape Breton University for stewarding MEW for 24 years and to our dedicated volunteer reviewers. Moving forward, all research involving Mi’kmaw communities, knowledge, or treaty rights must be reviewed by MEW.  

We’re also excited to announce Zabrina Downton as MEW’s new Program Coordinator! Join us in welcoming her as we strengthen our commitment to research and data sovereignty.
